The City of Seattle is designing a new natural area
on Thornton Creek and we need your help!
The City of Seattle has acquired a property in Lake City on Thornton Creek on NE 125th St near 24th Ave NE to create a community green space that supports a healthier Thornton Creek.
In order to make this a natural area that serves community needs, we need to hear your hopes and dreams for both the neighborhood and the upcoming Lake City Floodplain Park. We look forward to connecting with you to create a vibrant, safe community space alongside a healthier Thornton Creek. We are committed to engaging the Lake City community as an active participant and collaborator in the design of public access to the new park. We look forward to hearing from you online and to visiting you in the community in COVID-safe ways to work with you on designing public access elements, including establishing community priorities, identifying and selecting the overall program of uses, and contributing to the layout of site elements. Together we can design a beautiful, safe natural area for community use!

Let’s Work Together
Community input will be critical in designing the upcoming Lake City Floodplain Park. We need your feedback on how to make this new park an accessible green space that supports a healthier creek and serves the needs of the Lake City community. While telling us your hopes for the site is what we need most right now, the new natural area park will eventually need the help of volunteers like you to help replant the site and maintain it!
The City of Seattle is also planning several in-person and virtual events to share information about the project and receive feedback on how the community would like to use the park.
There are no meetings currently scheduled, but we are planning how to share project progress in the New Year. Please check back and/or be in touch!

Project Funding
Project leadership, support, and funding is provided by Seattle Public Utilities and Seattle Parks and Recreation. The options analysis phase of the project is funded in partnership with Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group* by King County Wastewater Treatment Division and King County Flood Control District with support from King County Councilmember Dembowski.
